Case Study
The applied research capstone project focused on integrating innovative and dynamic solutions to address the challenges faced by middle school students in comprehending the nuanced meanings of figurative and connotative language. The research sought to evaluate the effect of gamification on an e-learning module, incorporating a mixed-method approach. Data was collected through pre and post-tests, and self and course evaluations to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the study. The qualitative analysis consists of standard deviation, means, and paired sample t-test while the qualitative data was thematically analyzed. The results signify a marked improvement in comprehension and engagement, demonstrating a positive impact of gamification on the learning solution. The research concluded with proposed iterations of the e-learning solution, emphasizing a more accessible design and more personalized learning paths.
